Midsommar is probably the most important day of the year in the Swedish calendar, a time when family and friends gather together to celebrate the summer in the countryside. Our Swedish roots have already inspired us to make Silver Circle Aquavit, the first aquavit in Wales, and now for the second year, we're hosting our own Midsommar event at the distillery.
Join us on June 21st, for a traditional family style Midsommar lunch party around a large communal table in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside. There will be a maypole, flower crowns, Swedish food and of course, aquavit a plenty!
On the menu:
Sill & Potatis - Pickled herring with new potatoes, sour cream and chives
Shrimp rolls - “Lobster roll” style shrimp rolls on brioche buns
Gravlax - Aquavit and dill cured salmon on rye bread
Västerbottenpaj - Swedish cheese quiche
Knäckebröd - Crispbread with cheese and other spreads
Hot dogs for kids.
Vegetarian options available on request, please let us know in advance.
Timetable:
12pm: Midsommar welcome cocktail. Making flower crowns and dressing the may pole together.
1pm: Sitting down at the communal table. Lunch is served. Nina will lead the table in traditional aquavit toasting and singing aquavit songs.
3pm: Dance around the may pole
3.30pm: Coffee and cake
There will be Swedish lawn games such as kubb available.
Bar is open until 9pm.
Adult price: £25 per person Includes welcome cocktail, flower crowns, Midsommar lunch, aquavit for toasting, coffee and cake.
Kids price: £6 Includes flower crowns, hot dogs, juice box and ice cream.
